Before I all went down
my life was on the town
I spread my wakeful feet
on melted asphalt streets
Awareness brought my head
down to sour bread
When I found my will
intentionally spilled
Freedom lost a future
to a single suture
Holding closed my eye
through which I would deny
Trust me, I am gone
asleep on someone's lawn
Sprinklers made my day
start and jump and spray
Once I was a dance
on a steep romance
Music swirled my glass
while I snaked and grassed
Another youthful shatter
hubcap rolling clatter
Now a shaftless drive
promises to thrive
