Short Poem, Long Project

Another brick and we begin to wall.
The arch gains texture
walking its planks
into posture.

Every line is a living preposition:
next to
gets beyond
to a grace
both above
and beside.

Enjoy, meant for you.
You and I and all the other eyes
watching what we unfold
as if our ties depended on it.

May we swear by that paradox
until our stray parts
come together for our last gasps

committing our sins and spins and grins
once, for all time,
to the idiomatic dustbin;
we hope our epic rhymes.
