A Sign of Interruption

Easy circuits break
into sharp spirals
half circling
half trigonometric
n algebraic
each an expression
of a series of painful leavings
not seasonal falls
autumn after frigid autumn
lined up in June
showing and telling my mind
that affection is never graded 
on a curve -- 
love is the mud
where we sat
for an almost decade
until the clear river's unsolvable math
took me to where I must go.
