Chasmic geologies
play the spasm trombone
according to tectonic ins and outs
finding hills where dales sunk

the level bubble taking chlorophyll's advice
and growing only to the point 
the root system can support 
flawed contortions retort:

we fall harder than autumn
softer than gravity;
and who's to say what the perfect
feels like on a life planet

where rocks are the stocks
in which foundations invest
only so much
for each converts

the other
and one day
meets its maker
as the sun expands.
