Middle Spring

The curve of roads
and trees
and the color green
slurs the reach
to speak beyond grasp --

Spirited moistening
springs from April
to deliver gray matter
with flowers in mind --

Special sparrow deliveries
crows above tiny eggs
gulls with wings painted cloud
toads on stools --

Gathering rathers close
coupling in slumber
in song
and in the total moment
in newborn life.
