a staring contest with the sun
at midsummer's noon

No one watches out
for watches too closely
as obsessions frolic
blooming goodly bad

Poets fetishize words 
and make language 
course downstream
in a way it never would

Attention does things
ignorance would never counsel
so look away
close your eyes

Critics cannot touch
underground ostrich sighs
