Secular Sense

Transcendence fails the ground test. 
Lightning may come from above,
but it knows how to follow the rod
deeper than any home. 

Spirituality fails the sound test.
Music may be ineffable,
but it smells solidity on
trumpet brass and piano spruce.

Gods fail the noun test.
Heights may be high,
but they often try
to fall.
