I hide behind obscurity I cannot take your lance Gladness fades on sun concrete Flattened by your glare I shiver shadows cast aside Motion dwelling house Wheels and feet beget my stance A grounded grinding gait Preponderance proposes please Ask for do not see Caution trips on airlines past Further forks untined Ending ocean where the krill Swarm to clothe each whale Neither creature for the eye Sized for search and fail
My favorite lines are ‘further forks untined’ (because it makes us wonder at how that might happen, what causes this, the meanings of forks and a vanished sharpness), and “ocean where the krill swarm to clothe each whale” (because I can totally picture that and feel that. I often float in the concrete, especially at first in a poem, then let the metaphor arrive. Always exciting to read your work, Roman! —tad
