A baseball diamond and a Korean War memorial,
adjacent to the interstate,
a waterpark parking lot straight up and down trees,
gave chase,
got,
tag
and straight up and down trees,
a run on
on the run
among the straight up and down trees,
pine and home
not quite urban and then quite out in the
country
memory stuck and erased
and it's been a dozen times
I have driven past
on the interstate
and the water park
is a Honda dealership
and the interstate
is the same,
and I ran on
from a sibling
couldn't say my
even then
it was the straight up and down trees
that had us,
and they ran their rooted run
as I turned ahead my face
to violently kiss
one of those straight up and down trees.
