Trained Wildness

Bray, bray to the naysayers
Bark at the solemn tree flesh
Beg dinner at the best table

Creatures can't learn
Is savagely wrong

The special ken of ours
Is measuring out the hours
But speed's denominator
Doesn't deserve a second thought

Lawns or grasses
Bushes or bracken
The garden or the accidental orchard
Design is a smile full of artifice

But natural is as anything does
A past, tensed for whatever's
The universe's next move
