High Spear

High plateau reads clouds and snow
To say: here lies height, at altitude
The story of time, accorded relative
Place at platitude plots, coordinated
By the relevant statues, horse-bound
Vagaries and obscurities are the teeth
Of a brain and they tear at reality for
Their meat and nutrition; repetition
Marks cadence with a not: don't fail
To show up and you can't sail against
The windstorm that's on its way to
Our houses, built from the bison and
The bitter bears who ceded their skins
To whoever held and released the next
Fastest spear.
