Scratch From

Gravel, four feet wide, to the horizon.
Rubber is the road, spun over to suggest
that clocks are in fact highways from the
hand to mouth that won't reach.
Hungry spines support over-heady heads
whose notions wish action were a notion,
whose ideals spin on the column
with the indelicate disloyalty
that marks the fainted heart.
