What does a nail do?

Trees have latent gaps
waiting for guests.

The hammer gets a hand 
and two fingers hold a nail
while the sawed sanded scut 
would stay, broadly rooted. 

To be a revelation 
secretes from nature's flesh 
while that which was extracted 
lingers lame and fresh.

Newer ways to art 
draw the maker in 
power prays to hearts 
while wrangling with sin.

I propose a purpose 
functions and a tool 
carpentry and humus 
dirty arms unspool.

Maintain that position 
secondary wish 
feinted entry vision 
someone else's dish.
