How, without removing the individual,
Can the impulse to succeed recede?
And why would one wish to remand
this all-consuming motivation?
Terrible questions in an age of 
achievement and pyramid prosperity;
or rather, spoils anointed to the 
tiny tip of the iceberg, while the 
remainder receive as much oxygen
as the bulk.
Don't shoot lower. Stop firing.
Notice, and quell,
what reaches out for the heights.
To climb ladders 
Which sit on piles of people
Is unacceptable
Not to mention miserable.
