Wanting to change is not enough

Accepting how it goes after the transition
is more than motivation can deliver
and these lengthy lines quiver
at the suggestion that it was an imposition

on a future self who doesn't choose.
Taking for granted the past disabused
notions who could have had a real vote
in the election of the higher organs

of this so-called state: comfort with 
a new language was not going to be
free. The independent miss the
monarch more than they would admit 
before election day.
