Silent Notation

In the foreground again
I resist the urge to contribute 
Via dialectic donations 

In my background 
My self conscious 
Is voicing concerns 

Do all thinking animals 
Consider their moment 
In such abstract terms 

Or can one move a mind 
To green and chirping and dry 
Out of metaphor and story and concept 

I don't know 
As asking the question 
Indicates a failure in advance 

While the airplane and the fly 
Go over my head 
The verb to die 
Can't purchase its bed
