When one is a strand of a web it's difficult to avoid thinking of the whole as you are integral (or perhaps not) to the structure which at the proper zoom level is the most relevant fact of your life though if you only look at the area between each of your nodes you're an individual standing alone (floating) and your tension must be internally generated bootlaces and straps but where did that web come from if not for a spider, designer, an intelligence? free will at some level, yes? perhaps if the molecules of the web's components or the nodes could be described properly predicted we strands, strings may see how we fit and why we should accept our temporary roles though an insect is skeptical about the word "roles" the fly prefers "murder weapon" whose dissolution makes the world a safer place.
