Time Scales

Did you learn to play your time scales on the instrument
of your living soul (you know what I mean by "soul");

the rhythm of a second
the plan for the day
a beat of a year
the indeterminacy of your life-time

each music needs a tune
each metaphor a mixing
for survival, how long will it take
to get enough to eat, sleep, be watered

and of course when the sun shines
you forget everything.
