Too Many Years

What does it all add up to
each cliché observed the next second
and every mistake seen from a distance
words are building a mausoleum
for the not yet dead
"here, lie, remain;
do not describe".

While language mourns
at an impossible altar
math becomes harder to unsee
fear sums multiply cruelty
acknowledgements acidify
and the base actions
are the foundation of a life
lived beyond its means.
