Going Out of Business

Faintly, a dropper impacts
the surface of a meniscus
telling the gravity well
that your welcome has run out.

This town ain't big enough
for a clothing store filled
with things you didn't need
coordinated by color.

Across the aisle: a cart
winding away from the
destination that felt
the breath on the back
of its neck while I was
watching the transaction.

Close the door as we
discuss these sensitive
tatters of a life
we won't remember.
