what do i believe in

this question demands answers 
urgent appeal for a court, packed  
with judges and the laws they apply 
i fear that the metaphor fails a key test: 
to be useful, to be known, to be sure 
and to be anything 
rejects the reality 
that reason is worth less 
than the transition from tree to paper
