Unread Message

I feel sad
when I am
unread.
It's the kind of
undressed
that goes
unaddressed.
It's a bed without
a mattress.
Really
a bed
without a bed.
The shape of a bed.
Undrawn, even.
The knowledge that
there could have been
a rectangle here
where we could
have slept.
