Planting Assurance

There's a plant on my shoulder.
This embrace, this umbrella tree embrace
gives my face the grace to place its troubles
back in the deeps of my back. My back is also
feeling the sun's sports, the radiant football
bouncing toward both goals. The forehead
indicates the level of the green. You and me,
we are not mean, at least not by nature. History,
in the other can, packs its aluminum all along
the edges, making a container of itself. Can
opener? Thank you. Let's see what we did
and why and how. And then let's recycle it
all. And give photosynthesis a chance to
phytoremediate every thing we trashed.
