Deification and the Sentence

How many words prior
to the bird's whisper
to the wasps?

Each has its yellow,
its shine and brine
and peach wine.

Not a minute too late
for the hour's cataclysm,
this is what language

promises to fail
to do
to do.

Animals are our gods,
as we are
animals.

Utterances swim like colors:
like colors
like colors

like death
like birth
like like.
