How could a head become large enough to accept
the punishment for a failed bridge?
In ancient Rome, that was to have one's family
put to death.
Whose confidence, whose ruler, whose stone masons
could hold faith
that their arch
might stay above water?
I believe I would have been
a toilet cleaner.
