The Speed of Dwelling

A rock does not consider
an end to stone.
At any size,
rock surmises
boulder to dirt
dirt to dust
congeal again.
To be so at home
in one's molecules
demands mountain stasis
a solid oasis
where water may fall
unconcerned with the fear
of splashes
frost
or evaporation.
