I am filled with shells.
Am I a shell game?
Shellacked?

Or am I a series
of former eggs
formed and shattered
scraping the inside edges
of my kidneys and bones?

These questions can only be answered
by the mist gathered at the top of the mountain,

a hat on the trees
promising to surge into town
and always holding back.
