Narratively Interrupted

Excuse me.
This concrete was almost dry.
Until your tardy hose tested
the green fire hydrant's cry.

Stop a fire may have been your purpose,
but ash houses cast no stones.
A storyline sneezes at edits
while a squiggled sidewalk moans.
