there. Newspaper surfing. Beer.
Numbness, prescribed or subscribed.
Inattention is an accident;
un is without purpose,
an avoidance, an evasion,
a misappropriated fund
compounding toward decay.
The look away looks at
that which bear not sight;
spectation without dictation,
recitation without thought or ought.
How to pull up and out?
Find the thing that prefers
not to be seen;
look hard and strong and patiently.
Attend to that which
resists attention,
not to that which
pulls the eye in and
softly boils the
mind.
