Grainy Pasture

Each grain dreams of wheat,
what could have been on the
amber wave, if the equatorial
sun were a few dozen latitude
off the center line.

As it is, the desert meadow
entails golden emmer
to divine the wind's desire
for dust's whirling dust
across the times of sand.
