We see, 
we say.
That's because
we've read 
the same 
books,
spines aligned.
We say
we see,
when we mean
we suffer the gap
that cannot be cemented
between our sidewalked 
blocks,
our alcoves, shadowed,
where our secret selves
brew quiet endings
to the middle of our story.
