The Scented Edge

Before I crushed the needle
whiffs came ad nauseum
at whim
trimmed on air
delivered to the canals by
the opposite of an architect
detected by the aware 
on hints at transience
sounding less with the seeking
the gentle absorption
demurmurating
swallowing all
but the waving tail.
