Roof and Blanch

The greydark promises sleet;
promises kept and kept.
Looking back,
the early afternoon would have been
better slept.
The concrete wept on uncovered heads
to deliver the notice that nothing is red.
Hardened by light, swept by the spittle,
all looks like blight as life whets its whistle.
