Late Morning Sleep

A nap does not cover 
this covered youth.

An infant faints 
in the face of rumbling wheels
and an ambling stroll.

I scroll from the nose
to the eyebrows
the mouth to the forehead.

I feel the frailty
of new life
of new heartbeats.

My drum catches
the speedy tiny thrum.
