Anchors are strong metaphors
for stoppage, for pause, for edits,
while boats are wild owls
acreak ahoot afloat.
Does wisdom dare flood the deck;
could chance and impulse be well;
are questions and quests alert to their wings;
will the ocean's floor remain?
Each poet must consider
the song of surprise
and notes etched
or sweets sketched.
May the page canvas
stretched, forevered?
Or may pages reach fingers
dancers awhirl and adervish?
One
or the other
rift the adrift
afloat until current event.
