A Letter to Characters

May it please the page,

Picto the graphs and image the maths
this language specificity cannot catch
the if-you-can-ification by representatives.

A word is a stand-in, a scab, a stanchion,
while a thousand words live in a frame.
Your honor, blank verseland,
see the error in our days:
grammarian ethics and verb morality
have spelled ending to craftwoven glyphs.

We want a horse? Show a horse!
Place it next to a rider, or better, atop.
Is there a fire?
What can f, i, r, and e burn?
Abstraction! Didaction! Concert refraction!
Say not music--play.
Make not lyrics--dance.
Legal tender is too hard, unwavering current.
Deal us in instead with fluttering uncertainty
may we bargain as hearts.
