Nietzsche in Good Time

How many of us
Have picked up Beyond
Good and Evil
At twenty five
And thought,
Hey, yeah,
That's the way it is

At least this one
Zarathustran rope dancer
Flung over the top
Of the market
Sardonic drippings
From a possum's feast

Be with eagles,
On mountains,
High ones,
The dreamy heights
Soaring, poring,
Rebelling 'gainst boring

And of course this surplus
Was a deficit in waiting
Dark time: two hours after
Midnight thirty
Spent on valuation
Risibly dirty

The bacchanal over
A shattering swung
Scattered glass dust
Right and left lung

On picking me up
A breath at a time
Bold Friedrich's cup
Was dangerous wine
