How many poems does a poet need to write to be
a poet? I mean A poet. A poet of poetry. A person
whose identity identifies with poetry. Or maybe
that identification hugs poems. Grab a few poems
and ask them, are you poems? What would make
you reconsider? Do you like me? Why did we get
into this together? Get your shit. Get out of my
house. Yes, trust
comes hard and goes hard. When the end surmises
that the preceding has been lost, only Kafka could
drill a hole in the head in the right gauge. Let that
brain meet surgeon. Poems are like meat to a butcher.
Or, the animal that precedes the meat. The meat is
the poetry. And the poem is the side of cow. A half
a cow. That's what a poem is. Is the poet the full cow?
