Language can do what dreams promised.
There is no need to wait to sleep,
to try to remember,
to go to your book of interpretations
and understand that a whale in there
indicates that you are going to
blah blah life blah strength blah friendship.
Instead, take the whale by the ocean.
Find the motives in the motion
of the letters and the sounds
and let the words become sentences
sentences and re-sentences
to give your self
the gift of your own mind
turning around inside itself
with a flashlight and a notebook.
You'll find things.
You'll interpret things.
You will become a series of things.
And the way that you use your words
to connect those things
gives you options
and eventually
a road on which to talk.
