A glimpse of the weight

It was only ever a few inches away
the seriousness
the taking of serious.
Those inches may as well have been
infinite space
a Zenoan distance
but only ever halfway further away
and another half way further away.
The solar eclipse though
could for an instant
reveal the shape of the universe
according to what is not covered by the sun.
And that insight might burn
as long as an indelicate look
at that same sun on a clear day
remains on the back of the eyelids.
