oversimplifies dramatically
the adverbal concentricity,
the monster complicity,
the capital p poverty,
the mortuary consistency,
the duplicity duplicity duplicity
of words strung together
like beads without much string.
It's a tight bracelet
taught to hug the wrist
like a fist hugging fingers.
Letters lettered
freshman year.
Fetters fetter
the fear of verbs.
How many posts
will you find on the road
after modern?
Contemporary says it all:
recency wears our purple regency
with all the dialectic
that a story about Phoenicians
could make less eclectic
by comparisons.
Meta for what?
Rise beyond the tattered sweater,
sweating rises not
to the occasional chill.
Let the ocean survive you.
There is no supportable life
that kills that which blues far over
its little gray matter self.
This is why poetry,
humble poetry,
continues to find reason
at the bottom of the trenches
trenchant with penchants
pendant with tendency
a necklace worn
again too tight
to keep the mind
from getting enough oxygen
for prose.
