Stance

Prepositions stand
shoulder-width departed
from the seated,
the prone,
the ungreeted tone

lured into no ears
into no forest
making no progress
into no retrenchment.

Each of these stranded dichotomies
glands together into frail intransigence
plural as an essless squiggle

holding the stance 
that glances off 
the shoes that otherwise
wear into feats. 

What is the point 
at which success
defines failure? 

Every point 
points to the other hand
because that's where the dot
typically claps.

Clasp a little harder
a little less hard
and the future will defer

to the expectations grandly proclaimed
by the documentary past.

Posture is the only accurate synonym
for loyalty. Do not be too coy
to ground feet.
