Yes, I love that thing
that people call
nature. I don't
like the dichotomy
but I like that you
know what I mean:
trees and animals
and sky, blue or
starred, the sounds
of swirling sects
of inward cosmic
bloom. Anyway,
you know what
I mean. While I
give nature my
goods and become
one of its own creatures,
I want to haunt other
people; I see more
universe in the verses
that come from human
mouths and hands
than I can in the passion
of the starry-eyed suns
sweltering a trillion
miles away; I feel the
emptiness that frames
these stars and crows
more intensely than
the caws and glows.
So, nature, put me
among your bipeds
and give me reasons
to spend the seasons
wherever your hominids
get through the rain.
