As Well as We Can Do

Life by principles and structures
over desire,

marked by regressions
and digressions
and aggressions.

For cause and for attention,
distention retains ponds
filled with retentions,

volumes of voluminous
volume, too much for
the ear to bear, and that

is why we read silently,
sometimes in the closet,

because we want that approval
won't get it

go to the author
for the words.

And so it is time
to lay the bricks

see the sticks for the patterns
that the trees offer

to the people paying
with their minds

for more than fire.

A heart health
rebounds

after another shot
on this little goal

another silence
breathed out

like the hole
that we will never

fill.
