fuel for some nearby life

Meltdown brain becomes critical
when there has been insufficient water
too much coffee and not nearly enough
grammar. One must listen to liquid things:
they are the womb we umbilical to. Straw
bog, cattails, and a hundred muskrats. Please
do not trap the muskrats, they are wonderful.
Heat is not necessarily the cause of meltdown
brain. Hot can make melt, but meltdown is a
function of radioactive habits, applied too close
to a split portmanteau. Anyway, I know more
about dry brain at altitude now, starved of
oxygen and rain, there are no muskrats
here, no traps required. Nevada's blue
must tip its leftward cap to the Sierras,
these bringers of precipitation, but not
all the way to town. In the rain shadow,
the meltdown is going to come when there
is too much sky to stand, too much sun for
land to be anything but baked, rattlesnaked
and dusty, unprepared to let even melted
mind moisture provide anything but
fuel for some nearby life.
