Pine Cone Stall

A blue squall
no clouds
bought gravity
for a middle distance cone
with a forty of a gust

Down the needle slope
across the goat width path
into preposition creek
going yet 
as the rock bottom would allow

Water's descent
after rain
scours moss graciously
and this impression of an orb
promised to follow the bead

Size is a disadvantage
if you're going places
and the branch stalled
its father, its son
as a matter of the course
