Driving the American Gun

I see cars and in them I see guns.
I do not mean I see guns inside the cars.
The cars are guns.
When a car is in drive
the safety is off.
The funny thing about this gun
is that it is constantly firing
if the safety is off
and the foot trigger pressed.
I thought automatic weapons
were against the law
but I go onto the highway
or any street in my neighborhood
and people are firing uninterrupted bursts
striking fear and death
into the hearts of animals and people and plants.
