Pan's optics gather wildness
in focus and among meadowlarks
and a corpus, a mountain
stand-in, represent music
with grammar, hammers,
and sticks. The underground
carrot harvest carves carrot-
shaped holes where there was
orange, and even bears are
gardeners. Concrete's steel
is wild too, wriggling and
regarding temperature's
activation as a tempest
through which to sail.
And rust is not a matter
of survival, it's a spreading,
a threading of needles back
into where they came.
In phone lines, in home
blinds, in screening,
preening, greening,
institutions gather
enclosures in the hive
and though the points
may rather be alive
lines and shapes divine
that grapes grew well
along the fences.
