The Law of the Die and the Land

Lawn blocks trade worm stocks
pitching volatility to broken broker sticks.
Fawn spots endure ending blots
snitching on siblings and smoking in the bush.
Under winter leaves, music must shower
in the tambourine sun.
Pines pine.
Eyes eye.
Meanders meander.
Nouns verb
until the curb
stops the roll
that was strolling
and extolling
the virtue of nondescript action.
Some words demand specific followers.
Some followers supply.
The market price
can only be confirmed
when utterances are exchanged for expressions.
Trees care for value
if they value their trunks
long packed with rings
whose only purposes
are to keep time
and hold each other up.
That's too simple for this modern world.
Property is propped up
by belief.
And these faiths, bought and sold,
cannot age, unless by interest and taxation,
and these pimples must be fought
and popped
and cropped
before they make the faces,
owning faces,
look as ugly as their effects.
