Plumb Lines

Pines make their spines 
reach directly to the heart
of their home. Each prays
every moment (between
storms) to the place where
they live: not the mountain,
not the county, not even
the land mass -- the whole
sphere is their level of
concern. It's a harder 
lesson to learn for 
lives with senses
that don't stand
perpendicular to
the earth.
